Meet the team


John Sweeney


Prior to establishing HCI, John held the position of Director of Research and Development with the Irish Health Services Accreditation Board, the precursor to the Health Information and Quality Authority. In this role he had overall responsibility for the development, and international accreditation, of the Acute, Palliative and Residential Care Accreditation Standards. Former roles included being the first Director of the Irish Society for Quality and Safety in Healthcare, where he instigated, among other things, the inaugural National Patient Perception of Care Survey.

As Quality Co-ordinator in University Hospital Galway he achieved the first ISO 9000 certification for acute care in Ireland. John is a guest lecturer of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, has sat on the Advisory Committee of the European Forum for Quality in Healthcare, represented Ireland on the EU ExPeRT Project, and acted as the Technical Advisor to the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) on external evaluation. He was the advisor to the Supreme Council for Health, Qatar, on healthcare regulation. In 2012 he was appointed as an International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) Expert and in 2013 he was elected to the board of ISQua.

Michelle Lynch

Quality Information Systems Specialist, HCI

As Quality Information Systems Specialist Michelle’s role is client orientated and involves working closely with clients in areas such as process mapping, end user training, system customisation and customer support. Michelle supports the introduction and adoption of both Q-Pulse and VCare in health organisations nationwide ensuring the needs and requirements of both the client and the patient are at the forefront of her role.

Prior to HCI, Michelle worked for SAP, a leading vendor of Enterprise Resource Planning software. Taking up roles as both a Software Engineer and Presales Consultant. Both roles providing an excellent baseline in Customer Support, End User Training and IT Service Management.

Following this, Michelle became a Production Management Analyst with a leading Global Insurance Company; MetLife. Michelle played a key role in the setup of the Global Technology Campus in Galway. Her role involved Vendor Management, Customer Support, Change Management and Processes Creation and Implementation. Michelle also undertook a role as a Service Line Lead; managing a Portfolio of Projects and Initiatives for the European Business.

Mairead Campbell

Client Development Specialist, HCI

As Client Development Specialist, Mairead is responsible for developing and managing new and existing client relationships. Mairead’s tasks include generating new business with new and existing clients in accordance with relevant regulation and standards as well as the organisation’s specific needs, organising and facilitating onsite meetings and demonstrations of HCI’s services, developing and issuing new business proposals and service agreements, follow up of potential new business leads and securing of contracts.

Mairead also has responsibility for representing HCI at all marketing opportunity activities, this includes attendance of all conferences, training days and seminars hosted by HCI and external bodies.

Eoin Cosgrove

Director of Quality Information Systems, HCI

Eoin is responsible for the implementation of Quality Management Information Systems in healthcare organisations. He oversees the full development and implementation process, which includes facilitating process mapping and re-engineering sessions with senior management, restructuring quality processes, developing customised electronic solutions, educating and training staff of all levels, supporting the rollout of redeveloped systems and ongoing follow up and evaluation. As Director of Quality Information Systems, Eoin is also responsible for the delivery of HCI’s outsourced quality and safety support service. Eoin manages a team consisting of Information System Specialists, Support Staff and a team of Developers.

Carmel Marley

QIS Support Desk Manager, HCI

As the Quality Information Systems (QIS) Support Desk Manager, Carmel is responsible for the management of all support queries with advanced knowledge of Client systems and related processes. Carmel provides innovate solutions to advanced queries and configuration.

Carmel provides support to the Quality and Safety Specialists in the development and implementation of specific quality and safety projects for acute care, home care, external evaluators, medical transport organisations, primary care centres and residential care organisations. Carmel delegates the incoming queries with the QIS support team and administers HCI’s Client Relations Management Software and Cloud Computing Solutions. Carmel also provides training on Q-Pulse, Quality Management Software, at an advanced level.

Carmel was involved in the implementation of Quality Information Systems in healthcare organisations which involved process mapping, restructuring of quality processes, developing customised electronic solutions, and supporting the rollout of redeveloped systems.

Carmel carries extensive experience as a front line Health Care Assistant. In her roles as healthcare assistant she was responsible for the general health and wellbeing of patients and residents and assisted them with mobilization, hygiene needs, care plans and dietary requirements.
